- European Championship Race in Angerville -
64 drivers travelled to Angerville (FR) to participate at the first of three races of the European Championships in Formula A.

Our pilots Renaudie, Varutti and Limmonen did not start off particularly well.

During the time practice, which took place in the rain, we had unforeseen difficulties and our drivers had to start the heats at the tail of the field.

Renaudie
This meant taking full risks and daring passing acts to qualify for the final.
In the first three laps when the track had dried off we succeeded in making a coup: Manuel Renaudie raced the fastest, Alban Varutti the second fastest and Tomi Limmonen the third fastest lap! Alban unfortunately had a technical problem at the beginning of the race and he lost a lot of time. Nevertheless he came in 20 th . Manuel regained 26 positions, driving 2 seconds faster than all others, finishing 4 th , and Tomi caught up to the 16 th position.
As both Varutti and Limmonen had some breakdowns, only Manuel Renaudie, as 22 nd , was able to qualify for the final.

Up till then, Harmen Oomkens was the best Swiss Hutless driver, starting the final in 11 th position.

All others had to hope for the repechage... where James Miller was the best Hutless pilot unfortunately ranking 7 th (the first 6 qualify for the final).

During the heats of final 1, in spite of the difficult conditions, our hopes raised for a podium place in final 2, as Manuel Renaudie wound up from the 22 nd position up to rank 9. Harmen Oomkens lost 5 positions and finished 16 th .

In final 2 our hopes for a top result were dashed by a defective reed valve. Due to the loss of engine output caused by this defect, Renaudie stood no chance to hold his position in the home stretch and dropped back to position 19. Harmen Oomkens was also out of luck and finished the race 21 st .

The next race, the 3 rd run of the French Championships, will take place in Ostricourt next week-end. We hope that things will work out better for us there.
