Another Step Towards Our Very Own Formula 1 World Champion Driver by 2020

KUALA LUMPUR, December 14, 2005 – Swiss Hutless Asia-Pacific Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary and Asia-Pacific regional office of kart racing powerhouse Swiss Hutless International, was officially opened with a bang by its Swiss principal’s Chief Executive Officer Karsten Meyer; on Monday, December 12, 2005.

The event marks another step in go-kart history in Malaysia and is an acknowledgement of Malaysia’s potential in the field of go-kart racing. It was studded with representatives from the international kart racing scene as well as the "who’s who” of the local scene, such as young talent Jazeman Firhan Dato’ Jaafar, who has done the country very proud despite his tender age.

Swiss Hutless Asia Pacific Sdn Bhd offers a full range of products including all of Swiss Hutless chassis types and spare parts; and services such as racing support and professional mechanics.

Its Marketing Director, Mr. Ray Kong, stresses that despite its small set-up, Swiss Hutless Asia Pacific carries the complete Swiss Hutless range which boasts more than 3,200 different items including the world famous CIK homologated racing karts and the Puffo and Mini karts for children.

"We hope that by assembling go-karts locally we can help make the sport more affordable and our vision is to be able to build our own ‘Made In Malaysia’ go-karts within the next 5 years,” he further added.

Since the inception of the Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia has been held in high regards as a regional hub for the development of motor sports and its related activities, as there are no such circuit in any other neighbouring ASEAN countries. As all current F1 drivers started with go-karts at a very young age, it is therefor important that Malaysians be given the same opportunity if we are to realise our dream of having our very own Formula 1 world champion drivers by 2020.

"We at Swiss Hutless Asia-Pacific share that same vision as Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammed when he first mooted out the idea of building a Formula 1 circuit in Malaysia. We need world class facilities and equipments to churn out world class drivers and that is Tun’s gift to all of us,” emphasised Mr Ray Kong.
