Last week-end the first race of the Italian Championships took place in Lonato, near Brescia.
Our two official drivers Tomi Limmonen and Manuel Renaudie participated.
Tomi Limmonen was coached by our Italian agent's team and ran in category Formula A, Manuel Renaudie in ICC with the GK Racing Team, with whom he has been working for the past 3 years in the shifter class.
The weather conditions were not the best. On Saturday rain and sunshine took turns and from Sunday afternoon on it kept pouring...
This was a new challenge for our drivers and mechanics, as noone had made experience so far with the newly homologated Bridgestone wet tyres.
Tomi mastered the situation very well and came in 5 th in the time practice.
Manu experienced a wet track for the first time with 125 material. He came in 12 th .
In the first heat Tomi could hold his 5 th position, while Manuel spinned in the first lap, dropped back to the tail and then wound up finishing 9 th .
In the second heat it was Tomi's turn to catch up from behind. He was running n 5 th position when he was bumped of the track. He crossed the finishing line in 13 th position.
This time Manuel had more success and came in 3 rd after a great start.
In the final both drivers finished in 6 th position.
In Formula A Henkie Waldschmidt won before Marco Ardigò and Davide Forè, in ICC Robert Dirks before Francesco Laudato and Nico Gloudemans.
Our Hutless driver in the Junior category, Toomas Heikkinen, unfortunately missed to qualify for the final by only one place. Eustachio Papapietro, who ran in Formula A, came in 15 th .
The next race will take place in Salbris next week-end, the first run of the French Championships.
